Airscale Hawker Typhoon masks
I have recently uploaded the marking masks for the Airscale Hawker Typhoon which is due for release in the New Year. The chosen schemes are a) for 183 Squadron R8884, a very early production Tiffy, portrayed in its distinctive markings worn during Exercise Spartan and b) JP843 of 197 Squadron. Both are car-door variants but differ slightly in several areas. The masks include wheel centres on both as are wing walkways. R8884 had a broad stripe running from just aft of the spinner, terminating forward of the cockpit so masks for this are provided. On JP843 there are masks for the black and white ID stripes painted under the wings, 12 and 24 inch in width on the real thing. QR codes will be on the box which link to these masks. When available and designed I’ll be uploading the masks for the canopy. Max

Hello there from Cary, North Carolina, USA
Hello Henrik and a warm welcome. You’ll have fun with your cutter, make sure you check your blade settings before you start though! When I bought mine 14 years ago I nearly cut through the mat! Max

Indeed, as an ancient Cameo 2 (11 years plus) user, I would be interested to hear what the issues are. Sometimes less is more…..mine is working fine but if it ever falls over I’ll be going down the Portrait route. Max

Camouflage and insignia masks for Mk IX Spitfire
I don’t know why I haven’t included the wings to be honest, I’ll check my files to see if it’s an oversight (aka senior moment) and if not I’ll draw them and add them to the fuselage ones. Max

Please Donate!
Ok Kev, I can see your point. It’s a shame that this undeniably excellent resource isn’t better known about and that sponsorship hasn’t been forthcoming. The site of course hosts the masks that I designed for the Airscale Defiant, linking with a QR code on the kit, and in recent discussions with Peter I’ll shortly be doing the same for his Typhoon so there’s an implicit element of “sponsorship” there, albeit not (yet?) financial! Max PS I have donated!

Is “cricket cutter” auto-text for Cricut Russ? :) Welcome, I hope you find the site useful Max….another nearly 80 year old modeller!

I find myself again questioning not only the viability of the site Kev, but also its raison d’etre. Don’t get me wrong, I’m prepared to make a donation to help out because there’s no reason why you should be the one to bear all the cost, but if there’s no tangible gain of any sort in it for you other than altruism, why do it? Hello from Las Vegas, NV USA
Welcome aboard Ken….1/72 eh….that’s small but good luck! I imagine you’ll be fine with national markings etc but serial numbers will be pushing the limits. I recently cut some 1/48 masks for a friend though and they came out well, so you never know! Keep us informed. Max
