Thanks for adding me guys! I wanted to join to learn making my own masks. I haven't bought a cutter yet, on the fence between the portait or cricut joy, since they're the only ones available here in our country. Again thanks for adding me!

Just joined today. I have a Silhouette Cameo 3 and my wife has a Cricut. I've had some partial successes making aircraft masks and look forward to learning how to do it right. I've down loaded the German WWII markings as I'm try to complete an Hasegawa 1/32 Bf 109F-4 and want to try using masks. Hope to have some pics in a week or so. Just about to wrap up the plane and prime it. Also experimenting with airbrush mottling. Glad to have found a forum like this for cutting masks.

Hello everyone: I'm hoping for some help with some questions I have concerning the Cameo 4. These days, reading Amazon reviews and related "information" (if you want to call it that) online is hardly helpful. Some people say thing Cameo 4 is the greatest machine ever built while others say it's best used as a door stop. It's very difficult to figure out if this is the machine to get or not. Several reviews claim the Cameo 3 is far superior. The negative reviews are all over the map: some claim a poor UI, others have issues with the cutting quality/depth and still others have reported full on crashes during a cut, ruining the current project. I'm not exactly hard up …

Hello everyone! Writing from Czech Republic. I'm a plane modeller for a long time who is now starting to get interested on doing masks for my own use. Will be getting a Portrait machine soon and I found this great forum. Hoping I can learn from you, and contribute to the general knowledge as much as I can. Cheers,

Thank you for accepting me. My name is Pascal, I live in Houthalen (near Hasselt). I bought a Silhouette a few years ago, but haven't figured out how to get the thing to work. The last few years I've been busy modifying and detailing 1/18 scale cars, mostly Porsches and Ferraris. I've started my first 1/32 scale aircraft builds, - P-51B, F-15A and F-15B - but they have been put on hold because the decals are not or no longer available. Want to finish the P-51 in the red Paul Mantz livery, both F-15's in a NASA livery. Sincerely Pascal

Hello, I'm Bax, from Ontario. I will be purchasing a Cameo 4 within a month or so. I primarily build plastic model military airplanes (WWII to about gen 4 jets) but am beginning to airbrush more generally as well. I'm mostly interested in masks for lettering, insignias and especially canopies - particularly those for Tamiya 1/72 and 1/48 scale models. While I have none of my own yet, I do intend on sharing everything I create myself or acquire from elsewhere, copyright permitting. Thanks to everyone in advance for all that they have already provided in the downloads section of this site, and to it's creator for setting this up for us. Cheers, …

Hello, I just got a new Silhouette Cameo 4 and am learning to make masks, I do mainly 1/48 aircraft, World War 1 and World War 2. Just made a mask for a F2G Corsair checkered cowling but didn't come out as good as I expected. I will need to redraw the squares as I just used the trace program over a jpg file. Well I have a large roll of vinyl so will try try again. Dave Calhoun

I bought my Cameo4 about a year ago. I mostly use it to make parts for my RC scale ships, and masks for my 1/72 aircraft. I picked the Cameo over the Cricut Maker because of the software- I found that Studio was similar to InkScape, a program I was already using, which cut the learning curve!

Hi guys, So glad to be part of this community. For me this is a natural progression, I've been using Eduard and Montex for years, lately even graduating to using camouflage masks from Top Notch etc. Then started seeing posts about using the Silhouette cutter range. So I figured , well how hard can this be? Yesterday I received my Portrait 3 and I'm about to find out ;-). looking forward to contributing as well as trying the great stuff already here. All the Best John

Glad I found this site! I'm on the very beginning of the learning curve with a Cameo 4, and pretty pumped at the modelling possibilities. Looking forward to the sharing of files and getting some tips from the more experienced of you. I've uploaded a file of paint masks I've used on my 1/72 Academy Mustang, and hope to share more as I make them.

Been modeling for years now and recently bought a silhouette portrait along with some oramask 810. Been playing around with it now for a few days and the software is easy to use, size and trace all the markings I've put into it. Would love to learn more about it and how you guys use it.

Hello folks! found this forum after looking at the possibility of making my own masks for painting and I saw a link on LSP. I’ve recently spent ages cutting out some masks by hand for a few models especially canopies and I’ve tried the liquid masks but don’t necessarily like them either. Either way it’s frustrating so I’ve decided to look at the silhouette portrait cutter and wanted to find out more about the whole topic before I commit to buying one given the investment.

Hi all Just unboxed my Cameo 4 today, managed to get it set up, and imported some files into my library! Step 1 of many...😅 Thanks to everyone who has uploaded files so far, they're going to be a great help. I'll fumble my way along and hopefully get some in there as well one day! Now the learning begins!! Iain

Hi guys, A few days ago I signed up on the forum. Modelling for more than 47 years now, I'm a member of LSP and also build planes in 172 scale and sometimes smaller. Occasionally a car finds its way to my workbench. Seeing on LSP what is possible with a cutter, now it's the time to buy one! It will be a Silhouette Portrait, its relatively small size is very convenient for me. Thanks Kev for letting me join the forum! Cheers, Peter

I've been a long time off and on modeler when family, time, and situations allowed. We retired, moved from PA to TN (grand kids) and trying to find a lot of time to model both in plastic and electronic. http://www.military-meshes.com/forum/showthread.php?7529-Lockheed-(Vega)-PV-1-Ventura&p=88257#post88257 I have a Cameo 4 (early Christmas present) that I'm in the process of figuring out. The first masks that I've created are ID letters on the tail of a 1/48 "Dave". The next step is to actually use them. 😅😅 Dave

Hi everybody, Just arrived here. Been a modelbuilder for life but always struggeling with decals. Used to make my own masks with tape but now I am trying to control the Silhouette. Not that good with computers I am afraid. First cut was the serial on this Beaufighter Currently working on a F4J Phantom, all masks here with the Silhouette so far. Now making the stars and bars. Glad to be here!! Rick

Cheers everybody, I have joined a few weeks ago but did not really have the time to check in. My name is Ben, I'm a modeller from Belgium and own a Silhouette Portrait. Just joined, thank you so much for creating this forum. I have resisted the urge to buy a cutter because I thought the learning curve would be much to steep for me. Exploring the site has has shown me what is in store for those of us that take the plunge. This isn't just about cutting paint masks (which is fantastic in and of it self) but designing and fabricating things like fins for missiles or countless other uses creative people can dream up to do with this tech. Excited to be here. A big thank you to all of the members that post their work and help others learn how to do this! Sincerely, Greg

Looking to get started in mask making and am a total novice. I'll be looking at the Silouette line of cutters but not sure what I need or what I might need in the future as my skill and experience grows. I see a lot of us from LSP on here and any advice is appreciated.
