  1. Tamiya 1/32 F-4 thin wing conversion

    Hi Folks.
Here is my 1/32 Phantom thin wing conversion.
Be aware that there is a lot of other steps necessary to achieve a true B Phantom conversion, but this is a good start point.

For the general "how to", please refer to my topic on LSP.

Better cut the outer panel parts in 0.5mm sheet as the original wing is 1mm (assemble 2 to get the thickness) the inner detail was cut in 0.3 on my build.

Have fun, and if you happen to use this successfuly, dont hesitate to leave me a little comment on how it went.

    Cheers.

    Mathieu

Looks fine to me.  I'll have a look for that FB group, thanks for the heads-up. [Edit] It seems I'm already a member of that one, there are so many FB groups I lose track. :classic_blink:

I'm actually doing mine over on LSP for the Revell GB, I'm planning to put some of the mask-specific stuff over here as well. https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/90601-p-51d-5na/

Hi, my bad, I tought your subject was Big Doll D-5.

Guess your subject is a perfectly filetless Mustang.
Very nice work on your masks btw.
    Cheers.

  3. No doubt the panel containing the exhaust pipes is gonna be the trickier to settle.

Do you intend to cut it in bmf straight away or will you be making test panels with classic masks, to see how they line up with each other?

Anyway I’m sure it’s going to look terrific once all panels are set.

    cheers

  4. Hi Mike !

Don't look on this one for too long. There is a lot of mistakes and sloppy work from me.

At first, it's a D-5, yes, but it had a tail filet out of the factory. There was some discussion about it on a Mustang FB Group. If you are not a member i can send you screens of the comments.

For the rest I just scanned the Lifelike decal sheet, used the auto trace tool, and cut. wich resulted in sloppy and rounded edges cuts.

Would I redo this today, I would handle things differently.

Can't wait to see your's in progress. Best of luck with your build.

  5. Hi,

I know ZM kits are due soon. but anyway there are still plenty of hasegawa kits out there longing for love, so.

Here is the files I used to convert my Hasegawa 190a5 to earlier a4.

The first file include the plastic and masks parts to convert the model. Dont cut it in one pass, as different material has to be used in the process: Vynil for the ailerons mod, plastic for the cockpit parts in different thickness
The second is the scheme I made out of it.

For a more specific use of the parts, please have a look at my Build log over at LSP.

    Cheers.
