  1. Yep, welcome indeed mon ami. I hope you enjoy your Silhouette machine and find lots of useful information on our site.
  2. Just Oramask 810 Gene. Under a coat of primer:

This is my solution to replicate the rib tapes and stitching seen on biplanes with fabric-covered wings and also some monoplanes which still had fabric covered elevators, rudders etc such as the Hurricane shown in my photograph.

  5. Use as you wish, that’s fine. Max
  6. Hello Denis…..you found our secret hideaway then! 😅 Max
  7. Welcome to our Forum! 1/72 masks sound scary…..too small! 😃
  8. Hello Laurent and welcome, I hope you enjoy your new Silhouette and get as much out of it as we do.
  9. Good to see you here Steve, Cameo 3 is what I’ve got…..old but reliable (bit like me really!). Do you know if it has the Designer software loaded, it’s essential for creating the kind of masks that we do. If not, it’s a one-off payment via Silhouette. Max

Welcome Butch, I hope you find what you want here, I don’t know how much there is on Cricuts because I think most use Silhouette, but fingers crossed.
  11. It's for life!! Bought mine about 8 years ago.

Quite tricky masks to both draw and use, the fist insignia needs to be built up in layers.

    YAK-3

Never ever trusted the trace function, just too much hassle so I scan, drag the scan into the Studio screen then draw it from scratch. Takes a bit of practice but essentially very very easy.
  15. Thanks for that John, interesting to see Spencer’s build evolve, and what some lovely watches…..could be tempted myself if there was a Hurricane one available! You will find some info here about my Lancaster choice.
  16. Hello John, good to see you here! I also have the Border Models Lanc to do at some time, also using masks because I’m doing ME453 (PO-L) of 467 Squadron RAAF lost on 3 March 45. What’s yours going to be?
  17. Not daft at all Phil, I imagine we've all experienced it. New mats tend to be far too sticky and "cling on" to anything, so the trick is to try to reduce its stickiness, various techniques have been posted but I think just a flat hand pressed over it a few times helps. My mat sadly faces the opposite problem after 10 years of use, but can I face a new ultra-sticky mat? Hmmm! Max
  18. If you haven’t got it, it’s essential!
  19. Hmmm, I honestly don't know what I'd do model-wise if I couldn't use my Silhouette for the many tasks that I need.
  20. This is really worrying Kev. With your tech knowledge are you going to pursue this issue? Do you know if it was the Apple upgrade or the Silhouette upgrade that has caused this?
  21. Welcome Paolo, there’s a good tie up between LSP and here, several familiar “faces”. Max
  22. Welcome Phil, from another West Countryman! A wonderful part of the world. Any questions, just fire away! Max
  23. I’d be very happy with the results you’ve achieved Gaz, especially when you compare yours against the decal. Gene is right about the settings…..blade depth, force in particular and number of passes are all important considerations. I wouldn’t know what force to use on your paper masks, I usually set mine to “6” for Oramask 810 but I imagine for paper it would be slightly less? I must investigate paper masks. Max
  24. Bonjour Philippe et bienvenu! The cutter machines open up a whole new world of possibilities to our fine hobby, so it’s well worth getting one. Max
  25. Very useful Mikeja, many thanks! 😃 Max
