  1. No, not an attack, thankfully. This was caused by the same premature database platform update that took out LSP and KLP (all of which are hosted on the same server). On the other hand, LSM and Model Ship World were taken out by an attack on the server they were both hosted on. Kev
  2. Welcome aboard, sir! The best place to ask all your questions is in the Q&A section. Kev
  3. We just had a major database issue, so this is just a test to make sure posting still works... Kev

  7. Welcome aboard, Jeepee! For the most part, the forums are quite easy to use. The main stumbling block for most new members is how to post images. You can't upload them directly to the forums, but rather, need to host them on a third-party site or service, and then link them to your posts here. How easy this is mostly depends on the service you use, but it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Kev

Welcome aboard, Dainis! Glad to see you made it over. Kev
  10. I recently finished this rather challenging vacuform airliner kit from Welsh Models. It was made in the mid-1990s, and while the original decals looked OK (designed by Liveries Unlimited, printed by Microscale), there were a little problematic in application. Not only that, but the decals supplied for the tail stripes had them in the reverse order (and they didn't fit well), meaning I couldn't use them for an accurate depiction anyway. In the end, I masked and sprayed the fin, and just extracted the UA logo from the decal. The white carrier titles on the fuselage were ultimately masked and sprayed, based on stencils I traced and cut from the kit decals. (One thing I do for every build project is scan the kit decals, whether I intend to use them or not.) Anyway, here's a selection of photos of the finished model: Kev
  11. Looks great, Joe! Just moved it to the Gallery section for you. Kev
  12. Is it a Portrait though, Chuck? In your initial post, you mention a Cameo 4. As for tools, I've never bought any for mine (Portrait 2). Kev
  13. Welcome aboard, Jonners! Kev
  14. Looking good, Joe! I've just taken the liberty of moving your topic over here to the Works in Progress section, where it more appropriately belongs. Kev

  17. One way to get a head start on the process is to lay some Tamiya tape over the canopy, use a sharp pencil to outline the framing, remove the tape and stick it to some paper, and then scan that into your computer. The pencil outlines will naturally be a little rough, but will at least give you a starting point. Kev
  18. Hi again Phil - no need to keep trying the upload, as the one I fixed up above takes care of it. If you have a revised version you want to upload, you can just update that one, and increment the version number from 1.0.0. Also, no need to upload photos separately, as they're not really downloadable files. You can post images of the work in a comment on the original post instead. Kev
  19. No worries, Phil. I've deleted the redundant uploads, added a screenshot to the original one, and moved it over to the Canopies section for you: Kev
  20. Well done. That looks great! Care to upload your cut files? (I ask this quite selfishly, as I have this kit in the stash!) Kev
  21. Sadly, I'll be having to stick with the old Revell kit for the time being, as my days of being able to afford expensive model kits are all but over. Long live the stash! Kev
  22. Glad to see you posting this wonderful build here, Max! It's truly a stunning kit, and you're doing wonderful work on it. Kev
  23. I've put together a quick'n'dirty grass mat base for the Trumpeter Emil. Anybody who's ever placed a large scale 109 or Spitfire build onto a glass shelf will be well aware of the dangers of the undercarriage splaying over time - and eventually collapsing altogether. This is really just to prevent that, and like the rest of the build, is deliberately low-effort! Kev
  24. For those of you wondering if it's really worth the bother to ditch the convenience of decals and paint your markings on, here's a model I built in 2008... In case you're curious, the decals were from Eagle Strike. The rest of the paint work is fine, other than being a little dusty. Kev
