  2. After spraying a piece of white wine bottle foil with Chaos Black spray primer I tried a quick test with the engraver and things look encouraging so far. The next test needs to be an instrument dial face. Watch this space.....

  4. This handy article on the 3DCuts website discusses a feature introduced in v3 of the Silhouette Studio software that helps make sharp corner cuts better: https://3dcuts.com/silhouette-line-segment-overcut-tutorial Thanks for Leon over at LSP for posting the link! Kev
  5. It's come to my attention that the interface for these settings is quite different in the latest versions of the Silhouette Studio software. I'm using v5 of the software (5.0.219ssbe Business Edition), and I found them by going to the SEND area, then clicking on the MORE button in the Modify Settings area: This opens up a long list of material types, but there's a settings panel at the bottom, which contains the settings in question: And a couple of parameters you can adjusted when selected: Kev
  6. HI All, I'm not new to model kits, however, just wanting to get into making my own masks for airbrushing. I've recently purchased a very little used Cricut Maker 3, and using its program Design Space. So, I know that I probably am in for another learning curve, but I want to give it a go. I will trawl through the forum to try and find what I'm looking for, but any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Michael.
  7. Smoke rings - Rauchringe - 1/48 Hello! I've created a "smoke ring" for the Italian camouflage in 1/48 scale. Have fun crafting! Harry File Information Submitter Timbacat Submitted 06/24/2025 Category Camouflage Patterns View File
  8. I uploaded a file of Meteor roundels and walkways a little while ago. And here's the Meteor with the roundels painted - apologies for the "quick'n'dirty" photo. With hindsight, I would have traced and done the fin flash with the Silhouette as well; as it was, I used Tamiya tape and it was probably a lot more work. One more colour to do, ie black for the unit codes, serials and walkways. I'm doing VT112/XL-S of 226 OCU, a fighter training unit based at RAF Bentwaters in the immediate post-war years. (As an aside, they also operated a few Tempest IIs, and my SH example is earmarked for XL-Y.) Thanks for looking.
  9. And finished. I'll do some proper photos in due course. It just fits in the IKEA display cabinet: turn it port quarter to the front and the door causes the pitot to bend a little.
  10. That's better. On to the finish line.
  11. When you use decals, you can see the model gradually, slowly evolving - hopefully into what you'd envisaged - as you work. The gratifying thing about using the masks is that it's a bit quicker: you add lots of masking and do a bit of painting, and nothing seems to happen Then suddenly, seemingly in an instant, the masks come off, et voila! OK, the walkway lines are a little uneven in width, but I can live with that. What I can't live with (although I did seriously consider it) is that the starboard "S" is noticeably above where it should be. I've no idea how that happened, I blame the bench gremlins. Now I'm particularly glad I included a spare on the mask sheet. So not 10 minutes after the big reveal, it was out with a fine sanding stick, off with the "S", and a quick touch-up of the silver; the new S goes on next session when the touch-up's cured.
